"This is an awesome organization! When I delivered the ahava14 backpacks in Tanzania it was an amazing experience. The children loved the backpacks. They were so excited to have a backpack for school and it was like watching kids at Christmas opening gifts. They got items they needed and also items that they could have fun with. I love what submersion14 is doing and that it is environmentally friendly. I think its an amazing organization and I can't wait to take this mission into other countries."

The Ahava14 Backpack Items
The ahava14 backpack itself is made from 100% organic cotton. It is the perfect size to be used as a backpack, or even a pillow. All of the hygiene items have a bag for easy use which are also made from 100% organic cotton. On average, when left in an area to decompose, cotton takes five to six months to biodegrade. This makes it much faster than a plastic bag which takes on average 1,000 years to decompose.
The ahava14 backpack contains a toothbrush made from bamboo. The bristles of the toothbrush are BPA free. On average it takes a plastic toothbrush over 400 years to decompose. This toothbrush is a must in order to instill normal hygiene practices to individuals while keeping the environment clean.
Soap and Wash Cloth
Hygiene is something that is very important in the lives of people. submersion14 believes that all people should have access to hygiene products. In the ahava14 backpack, there is a bar of soap made with no harmful chemicals and is vegetable based. It is made from vegan oatmeal which helps exfoliate the skin. The wash cloth is woven out of 100% organic bamboo fibers making it hypoallergenic too.
Each hacky sack is handmade, with the intention to soon start making these in third world countries to help boost their economy. Traditional hacky sacks are generally made with plastic beads, but submersion14 replaced these with beans. Not only is this preventing plastic pollution, but it also can provide a child with a small meal in horrid times. On the fun side of things, we think it makes the hacky sack a little more bouncy!
The jump rope is definitely a must when playing outside. The jump rope in the ahava14 bag is made from 100% organic cotton. Often times jump ropes have plastic handles, but submersion14 replaced these with bamboo wooden handles making the jump rope eco-friendly, but still contains the same amount of fun.
Crayons and Coloring Book
Crayons and a coloring book are essential to allowing creativity and growth. Each coloring book has original coloring pages and are printed on 100% recycled paper. They are held together without metal staples, and use a folding technique to keep them together. The crayons are made from soybeans. Many traditional crayons contain paraffin which take hundreds of years to decompose.
